James Nachtwey’s searing photos of war

James Nachtwey is one of my all time favourite documentary photographers.

Over the past few decades James has risked his life to tell the truth about war, the poor and famine. How he kept his nerve and captured such photos is the sign of a true master. His work may not be to everyone’s taste, but his message should be.

I have been hoping for some time now, to see the DVD “War Photographer”, which Christian Frei document’s James Nachtwey in the front line doing what he does best. I have not the full film, as it is a USA Region 1 DVD, and I live in the UK where we use region 2. Here is a link to the trailer:

  1. James Nachtwey is one of my favorite photographers as well. His ability to tell stories through his images is amazing. Last year I saw an exhibition here in Sweden with some of his work. I believe it was called “Anti-War Photographer” or something like that. It was one of the things that really started my passion for photography.
