Anyone who lives in Glasgow’s West-End would know this Art Deco landmark. The Botanic Garage. It was completed around 1911 and around the late 1990s it finally closed it’s doors to cars for good.
I was lucky to be one of few to see inside the building. It was like a time capsule, untouched for almost two decades. I have had these images sitting on my hard-drive for almost 7 years, and now deciding to show them.

Built in 1885 Scotway house in Glasgow, was originally the drawing offices of DW Henderson Shipbuilder’s.
On the 20th May 2016 it was set on fire. This breaks my heart to see yet another listed building in Glasgow being set on fire deliberately.
I was fortunate that back in 2010 the back door was open. and I went inside to document this historical gem of building, as I knew one say it would be consumed in flames in the future, as many a listed building in Glasgow that are left to rot, always do.
Some of the Iron work that had been stripped out from the internal stairway
The stunning ground floor wood and glass interior.
The dookits up in the Attic/loft
A beautiful old can of McEwan’s Export. I never took anything from inside this building, but left it as is, for the next explorer to enjoy.
I actually sat on the roof for a bit, embracing the Glasgow Clydeside skyline.
Up in the attic / loft there were superb wee paper cut outs glued to the walls, of a golden age that had past.
The sadness of anything metal, or of value had been stripped. You can see the detail of one of the Iron bannisters at the top of the page.
Despite the French styled building, designed by Bruce and Hay Architects being is awful condition even back in 2010. The light in some parts was gorgeous, and absent in other parts.
I hope this building’s shell is rescued, but i fear it was be flattened soon.
It has been more or less demolished now…
I will miss this old friend…

I have been recently involved behind the scenes, working with Creative Director Alisa Anderson @Alisa_Anderson, Filmmaker Paul Sayer @everyonedances. With myself Photographing Gordon J Millar, founder of Scot Street Style. @ScotStreetStyle #scotstreetstyle
Gordon is a key figure head in building a global community to capture essence of Scottish style/character. His energy can be found;
There is a saying “surround yourself with people you aspire to” and that is true of the people I have mentioned above. All creative, humble, positive with boundless energy.
It was good to mix up my shooting styles; with my usual candid shots with my more personal Portrait work too.

Below are some heart breaking photos of a fire that ripped through one of Glasgow’s most iconic building’s. The good news is no one was killed, the sad sad news is a lot of history has been destroyed, such as artwork, interior design, books, original furniture and students installations. A part of Glasgow died on the 23rd May 2014.
My thoughts are with the Students, Staff and all who are involved with Glasgow School of Art. Thanks to the brave firefighters!!
I look forward to the day this European Architectural masterpiece by Charles Rennie MacIntosh, is restored to it’s Glory, and make Glasgow smile once again!
The photo below showed a simple but meaningful token of appreciation to the fire-fighters who had to tackle the blaze in a unique way to try and save as much as possible.
The fire-fighters managed to save 90% of the building and 70% of the buildings contents, while risking their lives.
