I was fortunate to be hired, to do another photo shoot with the UK’s finest young Parkour athlete Robbie Griffith, at the Clydeside in Glasgow, around 6:30 in the morning.
The early rise allowed us to shoot in the morning light in the quietness.
I used a lower shutter speed to add some motion to the photo, so the viewer could have a sense of motion.
It is photo shoots like this I am happy that I photograph completely in Manual setting, which allow me to have full control of what I want to achieve from the photo, and not letting the camera guess for me.
Robbie is a true professional, he is far capable of higher, more dramatic and complex moves, but allowed me to keep it simple, for this particular fresh and vivid shoot.
I used a mixture of natural back or side light from the Sun with a medium softbox as a fill light.

Some photos from Cryptic Nights event “Sound To Sea”. Which I was hired to capture the rehearsals, that where going to take place at night on the river Clyde in Glasgow. My work for Cryptic Night was originally in colour, however I also love the black and white versions as it was a very moody steel sky with pockets of light bursting through.

Yesterday I went back to my photographic roots, with Architectural photography. To the same place it all began some 13+ years ago with my old film SLR, but this time with my Digital SLR. On a very similar type of winter’s day, of cold clear winter sunshine. That rich golden light, with long shadows due to the Sun’s low position in the sky during winter in Glasgow, Scotland.
I am very fortunate to be a paid freelance photographer, but it also nice to just get out and capture photos for myself, with gorgeous natural light and no pressure. I count myself lucky, that on a day off from work, I still love to go out and shoot photos, with the same passion, care and attention.
I have posted below some photographs from yesterday.
